Parsonii Juniper - (JUNIPERUS chinensis 'Parsonii)

Basic Information: Parsonii Juniper is a dense, evergreen shrub that is derived from Chinese Juniper. This is found all around Asia and has many different varieties. This plant has a beautiful look to it with bluish-green foliage that grows in a dome-like mound. This plant is incredibly popular as it is super tough and requires very little maintenance. 

Planting Information: Parsonii Juniper is a great choice for landscape her in Daytona and Ormond. This plant can pretty much live anywhere. It loves sandy soil, it is drought tolerant, salt tolerant and is happy in our full on summer sun. This plant also is not bothered by extreme temperatures and will be absolutely fine in a Florida freeze. U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 6 through 9, grows 12 to 18 inches high and 6 to 8 feet wide (however, this will take quite a while to happen). Parsonii Juniper can be planted 5 to 6 feet apart but less spacing may be used for different affect aesthetics. It is important to keep in mind that planting them extremely close to one another can cause issues.

Basic Information: Asiatic Jasmine is native to Korea and does very well in warm and cooler climates. This makes it perfect for Ormond Beach and grows well in Zone 9b. This plant is very hardy and requires little care, however, special attention should be paid to edges. Mowing is infrequent and the plant is fairly drought tolerant making it perfect for Daytona’s sandy soil.
